Welcome in North Korea and Pyongyang

The Bridge of the Friendship

To the west North Korea is bordering the Chinese districs of Jilin and Liaoning. From the city Dandong in China North Korea is to reach by the Bridge of the Friendship over the Yalu River.

To the south North Korea is separated by the Korean Demilitarized Zone with South Korea, with which it formed one nation until division following World War II.

At its northern Amnok River border is China and, separated by the Tumen River in the extreme north-east, Russia.

Pyong Yang is the beautiful capital of North Korea.

Tourism has increased over the last few years but tourists from Western countries remain few. The majority of the tourists are visitors from China and Japan.

Some other famous spots are Pyongyang, the capital and largest city of North Korea, located on the Taedong River, the Baekdu Mountain, a volcanic mountain on the border between China and North Korea.

In the area of the Kŭmgangsan-mountains, the company Hyundai established and operates a tourist area.

In 2002, the area around Mount Kŭmgang, a scenic mountain close to the South Korea border, has been designated as the special tourist destination Kŭmgangsan Tourist Region, commonly known as “the Diamond Mountains”.
